How to Construct an Egyptian Link Bracelet
In this jewelry design one will need wire (sterling silver) and a round nose and flat nose pliers. To start off the links, use the wire cutter pliers to cut the wire of choice at exactly 5.5 inches. After the cutting the wires at appropriate lengths, bend the wire in half so that they are the same size when bent. If any sides are longer than the other, cut off the excess so that the ends are even. Next, take the round nose pliers and insert the wire around the pliers and then crimp it with the flat nose pliers. After, take the flat nose pliers and place it at the base of the hoop, and give it a 90-degree curve. Next create the coil using the flat nose pliers by making a little antenna at the end of each wire by curving inward. After creating the antennae, hold that point firmly and slightly release the pliers a little and push the wire to create a spiral coil that spirals out from the center of the link. Stop the coil at about a half-inch from the bend of the loop to the top of the spiral. After one side is completed, do the same for the other side of the wire. Repeat these steps for each of the cut out wires.
Once the wires are all coiled, the next step is to put the coils together. To do this it is good to imagine the coils lined up like chairs with the loop bend facing up. Start the necklace by taking one link and plug it into another by placing it into the loop so that it locks into it. Next slightly bend it a little bit without making the bend too tight. Next take the pliers to bend the loop down. After this add the next coil following the same pattern. After adding a few links, you will notice that the coils are slightly raised. At an early point of joining the coiled links together, use your thumb to bend the links down. Finally, continue to add links until a desire length of an Egyptian necklace is achieved. Once completed, add a hook and clasp so it is ready to be worn.
